Our Future
The future of the Rocky Mountain Cat Conservancy (RMCC) holds exciting possibilities as the organization continues to expand its community outreach, wildlife education, and research programs. A key focus for RMCC moving forward is deepening its connection with local communities to inspire greater awareness and action around the conservation of wild cats and their habitats. With a growing recognition of the importance of education in conservation, RMCC plans to expand its outreach efforts, working with local schools, universities, and community groups to provide more immersive and hands-on learning experiences. Meaningful projects will ensure that a broader range of individuals—from children to adults—develop a greater understanding of the challenges facing wildlife, creating a ripple effect that extends well beyond the classroom.
In the realm of wildlife education, RMCC plans to enhance its educational resources and initiatives, particularly through its partnerships with academic institutions like Front Range Community College and CSU Drone Center. New approaches and fresh seminars will give students a deeper understanding of conservation issues, including the vital role of wild cats in maintaining healthy ecosystems.
Research is another critical area for RMCC's future growth. As part of its long-term goals, the organization will continue its research aimed at assessing the overall health of wild cat populations worldwide. Projects will move forward in Colorado and Central Asia that center around its unique expertise in field research on mountain lions and snow leopards. Along with its partner conservation organizations RMCC will test and promote the use of drones to census wildlife ungulates—the primary prey of large wild cats.
Ultimately, RMCC's vision for the future is to create a lasting impact on ever-expanding communities locally and around the world. The future of RMCC is one that not only focuses on protecting wildlife but also on cultivating a community of engaged and informed individuals who are passionate about preserving the natural world for future generations.
