wild cat research and community stewardship
This special public program included several guest speakers, including Marc Beckoff, well known author and ecologist. Students of RMCC's pilot research and education program in Estes Park shared their camera work findings and details about resident lions of Estes. The event also featured music by singer Karen Kay and an art auction with numerous high quality art pieces donated by artists throughout the region, including world renowned photographer Thomas Mangelsen, co-founder of the Cougar Fund, based in Jackson Hole. Mangelsen is an expert in natural history photography, with his work often featured in National Geographic, Smithsonian, and Time Magazine. Cara Blessley, co-founder and director of the Cougar Fund read an excerpt from her recently published book Listening to Cougar. RMCC's Caroline Krumm presents data and research information to participants of a field seminar offered through the Rocky Mountain Nature Association in Estes Park.
